Thursday, 07.25.2002 - trial in four (4) segments 09:00 - 13:45 / the Pre-Trial Conference for the part of the trial on Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place. The Trial Chamber rules that: The presentation of the Prosecution evidence in chief for Kosovo will be extended until 13 September 2002. The Prosecution is required to submit the list of witnesses for Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina by 31 July 2002 and the exhibits in relation to those witnesses as soon as possible after that.

There will be a break in proceedings from 13 until 30 September and the presentation of the Prosecution evidence in chief for Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled to begin on 30 September 2002. Opening statements will be allowed, with a time limit of 3 hours for both the Prosecution and the accused. The Trial Chamber ruled that there will be a total of 177 live Prosecution witnesses and 106 witnesses for Bosnia and Herzegovina and 71 for Croatia (down from the proposed 275). The presentation of the Prosecution evidence in chief for all three Indictments is currently scheduled to end on 16 May 2003 (it was previously scheduled for 10 April). Monday, 07.22.2002 - trial in three (3) segments 09:00 - 13:45 The accused resumes the cross-examination of protected witness K32 who began his testimony on 17 July 2002 (see Weekly Update No. 229).Then Zoran Lilic, former President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia appears before the Tribunal under a subpoena to state his difficulties with testifying before the Tribunal. The Prosecution then examines subpoenaed witness Dragan Karleusa who led the police working group investigating allegations of a refrigerator truck containing corpses found in the Danube in 1999 / transcript

Wednesday, 07.17.2002 - trial in three (3) segments 09:30 - 13:45 the Prosecution called Rule 92 bis witness Xhevahire Syla from the village of Nivokaz/Nivokaze in the Gjakovë/ Djakovica municipality who testified about deportations and killings in the municipality in 1998 and 1999. The accused cross-examined the witness and the Prosecution re-examined her. Tuesday, 07.16.2002 - trial in three (3) segments 09:30 - 13:45 The accused resumed the cross-examination of witness Merita Dedaj.The Prosecution then introduced the statement of Rule 92 bis witness Merifidete Selmani from the Gjakovë/Djakovica municipality who testified how the residents of Dobrosh/Dobros fled their village in 1999. Dr. Baccard reviewed the pathology reports of the French forensic team with respect to the individuals found in three wells in the village of Qirez/Ciriz in Kosovo in July 1999. The accused subsequently cross-examined the witness. The Prosecution then introduced the statement of Rule 92 bis witness Merita Dedaj from the village of Guskë in the municipality of Gjakovë/Djakovica who testified about the killing of nine men, including her father, uncle and cousin, in 1999 / transcript

The Prosecution then introduced the statement of Rule 92 bis witness Shyhrete Berisha who testified about the attack on the town Suva Reka in Kosovo in 1999. She also told the Court about the killing of her husband and four children. The accused and the Judges briefly questioned the witness. The Prosecution then examined witness Colonel John Crosland, the Defence Attaché with the British Army who was accredited to liaise with the Yugoslav Army ("VJ") from 1996 until 1999. The accused and an amicus curiae then cross-examined the witness. The Prosecution then resumed the examination of witness Shukri Aliu who began his testimony on Friday 5 July 2002.
