There is usually a few weeks delay in this process) Monday, October 31st - 09:00 - 13:45 General Milos Djosan is recalled to answer questions regarding his unit’s war diary. There is discussion of Djosan’s use of the word “ciscenje”, to cleanse, and whether it is in reference to ethnic cleansing. Following more reading of Djosan’s diary, Vukovic continues his examination-in-chief. He is questioned regarding killings in Meja, which he claims were fights between the army and the KLA. He also discusses atrocities NATO supposedly committed. / transcript; Due to problems in the Hague, this recording is Audio Only. Thursday, October 27th - 09:00 - 13:45 Col. Vukovic continues his testimony. He shows his war diary, logbook, and combat and daily reports, which allude to a close cooperation between the KLA, NATO, and the Albanian Army. Included in the reports is the claim that the Yugoslav Army intercepted KLA radio communications revealing that NATO was training as many as 10,000 terrorists in camps. He claims that the KLA and NATO drove the refugees out of Kosovo. / transcript Wednesday, October 26th - 09:00 - 13:45 General Djosan completes his testimony. He discusses his knowledge of KFOR’s policies on mass graves. Afterwards, Col. Vlatko Vukovic, former commander of the Second Motorized Batallion of the 549th Motorized Brigade of the Yugoslav Army, is called to the stand. He spends the most of day denying allogations that the Yugoslav Army had anything to do with killings in Bela Crkva and Nogavac. / transcript Tuesday, October 25th - 09:00 - 13:45 General Milos Djosan completes his cross-examination. His testimony is compared to the publication “As Seen As Told” and is said to diverge from that account. Milosevic begins his re-examination by trying to prove that bodies buried at Batajnica had nothing to do with Djosan and were most likely buried there after the war. / transcript Thursday, October 20th - 09:00 - 13:45 In a status conference, Milosevic is denied more time to present his defense. Afterwards, General Milos Djosan is cross-examined. He is questioned about the reburial of bodies at Batajnica and insists that it would not be possible during the war. He also discusses the testimony of Nike Peraj, who he claims lied to protect himself. He talks about Nike Peraj, an ethnic Albanian who was in the Yugoslav army and testified that Serbian troops committed crimes in Djakovica and Meja. Djosan blames many of the killings in those areas on NATO. / transcript Tuesday, October 18th - 09:00 - 13:45 Milosevic completes his re-examination of Col. Bogoljub Janicevic. Janicevic refutes charges that prisoners were tortured at the Urosevac SUP building. Next, General Milos Djosan, who served as the commander of the 52nd Artillery Brigade of the Yugoslav Air Defense, is called to the stand. Djosan insists that there were no plans for ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, and that if there were, he would have known about them. He blames NATO’s bombing for the fleeing refugees in Kosovo. / transcript Wednesday, October 5 - 09:00 - 13:45 The judges announce that Milosevic has less than thirty working days left to present his case. Also announced is the investigation into the video of Paddy Ashdown from 1998. Afterwards, Col. Bogoljub Janicevic continues his cross-examination. He is questioned about the events in Racak. Bogoljub also discusses Serbian police disciplinary action to prove that they were not encouraged or allowed to murder. / transcript Tuesday, October 4 - 09:00 - 13:45 Col. Janicevic’s cross-examination continues. Most of the day is spent discussing the events at Racak and arguing details of the deaths of KLA members. Jamocevic is also asked about the treatment of prisoners in the Urosevac SUP building and denies that they were subject to torture and beating. / transcript Monday, October 3 - 09:00 - 13:45 Col. Bogoljub Janicevic continues to testify. He insists that the police and army never attacked Kotlina and discusses the KLA’s work there. He also discusses NATO’s bombing and claims that NATO targeted civilians. The cross-examination begins with questions about Racak and will continue. / transcript
